В последние годы 3D-печать использовалась для строительства чего угодно, от зданий до производств и даже транспорта. Сейчас Дубай планирует выпустить первую в мире мечеть, созданную на 3D-принтере.
По словам главного инженера Департамента по исламским делам и благотворительной деятельности правительства Дубая, здание сможет принять 600 верующих и будет занимать 2000 кв.м. на двух этажах. Изготовлен будет он из смеси бетона, выполнение планируется запустить к концу года и закончить в первом квартале 2025 года.

Для строительства зданий с помощью 3D-печати требуются большие печатные машины, на которых записана информация о проекте. Выделяют строительный материал из специального сопла, наращивая конструкцию слоями. Подавляющее большинство зданий, выполненых на 3D-принтере, сделаны из бетона, но можно печатать и с помощью иных материй, например глина.
Дубай намеревался стать столицей в мире 3D-печати, и в 2018 году он запустил стратегию, согласно которой к 2030 году четверть нового строительства эмирата будет напечатано на 3D-принтере.
В 2019 году он стал мировым рекордсменом по самой большой структуре, напечатанной на 3D-принтере, — муниципалитету Дубая (высотой 9,5 метра и площадь 640 кв. м.), а также здесь находился первый в мире офис, напечатанный на 3D-принтере, и научная лаборатория дронов, напечатанная на 3D-принтере.
Но новые здания, напечатанные на 3D-принтере, уже появляются везде. Парки и целые аллеи, как, например, проект New Story в Табаско, который предоставит дома семьям, живущим в бедности.
Организация 3D-печати планирует стройку на поверхности Луны. Она является сторонником модернизации сферы стройки при помощи таких новинок, как 3D-печать.
